Solibri User Day 2022 in Japan
Last week, Robin had the opportunity to visit Tokyo again, on behalf of the Japanese Solibri User Day 2022. An event for existing and potential customers, about Solibri deployment and the latest developments. Together with Ville (CEO) and Lauri (Customer Success Manager), they travelled to Tokyo.
Robin: "The unique relationship with Japan came about during a Solibri user event in 2018, where I was introduced to Graphisoft Japan (local reseller and trainers of Archicad & Solibri) and their largest customer Takenaka. Having been invited to the User Day in 2019 at the time, another request came from Graphisoft Japan & Takenaka for 'Robin-San'.
My presentation was entitled: 'How we support the construction market to Start, Grow and Excel with Solibri and Data Validation?' In it, Based's implementation and training approach was highlighted for inspiration.
Our role as a consultant & trainer is relatively unknown in Japan. Training is e.g. much organised internally, although there is an increasing focus on learning and change management on the shop floor. Based on European working methodologies, I drew attention to the BIM Basis ILS (Basic IDM), which Graphisoft Japan also made available locally. The translated BCF communication methodology was added this year.
The event took place next to the Kanda-Myojin Shrine, completing the Japanese experience.
Besides the Solibri User Day, a workshop was also planned for Takenaka's enthusiastic BIS team (BIM coordinators team). During this workshop, we delved into more specific processes and dealt extensively with the use of Classifications.
It was a unique experience, where the language barrier could be quite challenging. I would like to thank the team at Graphisoft Japan with Tatsuro Kawai in particular, for the invitation and good care. We remain in the picture online as sparring partners and I look forward to the next opportunity to meet in person."
